And I'm feeling bummed. I just found out that I wasn't selected in the lottery for the 2008 New York City marathon in November. Chicago's LaSalle is closed for October, and the Marine Corps marathon in Washington D.C. is closed as well. So any runners out there? If so, any ideas for a cool October/November marathon?

Try the Philadelphia Marathon -- I'm catching up on your blog posts (so there might be an answer to this), but if you are new to marathons, Philly is great because the course is "fast," meaning relatively flat. Many people use it to achieve qualifying times for other marathons. The course includes the steps of the art museum that Rocky ran up!
If my experience last year is any indication, you won't have trouble signing up and getting in. Just a thought...
Thanks for the suggestion. I will have to definitely look into it. I have run two marathons, so this falls will be my third. I never knew running could be so addictive. Thanks again!
Searching for truth, honesty, happiness, and meaning in a world of labels and my own self repression. Coming out in my early thirties experiencing the freedom, fear, and fun that it brings; with the gift of a 12 year old, the experience of a 15 year old, the body of a 24 year old, the face of a 28 year old, the analytical mind of a 40 year old, and the humor of a member of the tribe!
